At the most recent meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council it was acknowledged that we all owe a debt of gratitude to those among us who give generously of their time, expertise and effort to enable our parish to function as it does.
- Those on the Finance Committee who ensure that the fabric of the church, the social centre and the house are in a good state of repair and who carefully manage the income and expenditure of the parish.
- Those who raise funds for the parish through the Christmas Fair, the “Smarties” scheme and the Friends of St. Gregory’s.
- Those who raise funds for CAFOD, the Missions and Faith in Families via collection boxes.
- The organisers of the Youth Group, the future of our parish and our faith.
- The Justice and Peace group who through their Lent and Advent reflections remind us of our Christian social obligations.
Each week when we arrive in church we should thank God for the work of those who
- Clean the church.
- Look after the vestments, altar cloths, candles, flowers.
- Train the altar servers to such a high standard.
- Provide varied music appropriate to the liturgy.
- Inspirationally lead the children’s liturgy group.
- Serve as Eucharistic ministers and readers.
Meanwhile there are others who
- Prepare young and not-so-young candidates for the sacraments.
- Organise the annual parish pilgrimage to Walsingham.
- Serve on the Parish Pastoral Council.
- Represent our parish on the “Churches Together in Barrow” group.
- Serve refreshments after Mass.
- Keep the Social Centre in pristine condition.
To all of you, whoever you are, a sincere “thank you” from your fellow parishioners.
