Special Ministers of the Eucharist
Special Ministers of the Eucharist are appointed by the Bishop to assist the priest (who is the Ordinary Minister) with the distribution of communion during Mass. They also visit the sick and housebound taking communion to them during the week. If anyone is not able to get to Mass even for a short time and would like to receive Communion at home, please ask.
The Thursday morning service of the Word and Communion is led by one of the Special Ministers.
They attend a Eucharistic Ministers' Renewal Day once a year at local churches in the diocese.
