Theme of today’s Mass: “Christ Our Peace”: The peace of Christ that we celebrate today should infuse us utterly, making us messengers of His peace to all around us.
Sick list: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Beryl Ford, Bernard Moyers, Ida De Melo, Maurice Nixon, Irene Pallot, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Angela Doyle.
Father John: we continue to remember Fr John in our prayers both for the recent death of his mother and on the anniversary of his ordination which fell exactly one week after the requiem.
Finances: Collection 30thJune: £85.86; second collection (Peter’s Pence): £52.07. Many thanks. (Cheques payable to St Gregory’s RC Parish).
Second Collection: There will be a second collection next Sundayin support of “The Apostleship of the Sea”. The Apostleship of the Sea serves seafarers from across the world, regardless of belief, nationality or race. In all the main ports in Great Britain a team of chaplains and volunteer ship visitors visit thousands of seafarers each year, meeting their needs through the provision of help, support and advice. There are ten mandatory second collections each year and this is the seventh. Thank you in advance for your unfailing generosity.
Confirmation preparation: The next meeting is today after Mass. Thereafter on 1stSeptember and 8th September. There are eight candidates. These will be presented to the parish at Mass on a Sunday at the beginning of September. The Bishop will be coming to St Gregory’s on Friday 20th September. The service will start at 7.00pm. There will be a shared table in the Social Centre afterwards. There will be more details published nearer the time. All parishioners are invited to both the service and the refreshments afterwards.
Friends of St Gregory’s: The next meeting of the Friends of St Gregory’s will take place on Wednesday 17th July at 2pm. All are welcome. Please ask Sheila Breed for details.
Rosary Rally: The 33rdAnnual Rosary Rally will be held again this year at Mount St Bernard Abbey on Sunday 1st September to pray for World Peace and Young People. It will start at 2.00pm with a concelebrated Mass. Please see the poster at the back of church for full details.

There is a poster at the back of church.
41stAnnual Justice and Peace Conference: The conference will be convened from Friday 26thto Sunday 28thJuly near Alfreton on the theme of “Forgotten People, Forgotten Places”. In answer to Pope Francis’s call for ‘a Church which is poor and for the poor’,  the 2019 Conference will work with Church Action on Poverty who are undertaking a three year project to challenge all Churches about where they put their resources. It will also hear from ‘communities of praxis’ who are already working on the margins, and who engage in social analysis and theological reflection from the perspective of the marginalised.  This national event, taking place within our diocese, offers an exciting opportunity to develop social action in our parishes, deepening current initiatives and finding fresh perspectives.
Sponsor a Mass Book: Please give some thought to the possibility of sponsoring a Mass Book or a set of Mass Books at £2 per book in memory of someone dear to you or requesting prayers for a special intention. Please see Kathryn Timmons who will advise on the wording to be used and arrange for inserts in the books you sponsor.
After Mass: Please come and join us in the Social Centre for a cup of tea/coffee/soft drink and a chat. If you are a newcomer or a visitor you are particularly welcome.
