Theme of today’s Mass: “Christ the King”: We celebrate Christ our anointed king who overcame suffering and death and so brought us out of darkness into his kingdom of light.
National Youth Sunday: Today, on the feast of Christ the King, the Church in England and Wales celebrates National Youth Sunday. On this day we celebrate the young people in our parish and community and all the gifts and talents they share with us. The theme for this year’s NYS is “Significance”, taken from “Christus vivit”,Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation to young people: “For him, you have worth; you are not insignificant. You are important to him, for you are the work of his hands. That is why he is concerned about you and looks to you with affection.” (Christus vivit, 115) Today our young people will be reading, leading the offertory and serving tea and coffee after Mass.
Beryl Ford: The Requiem Mass for Beryl will be held on Tuesday 26th November at 11.30am. Burial to follow in Sileby Cemetery.
Sick List: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Bernard Moyers, Patrick Hodgson, Angela Doyle, Ida De Melo, Maurice Nixon, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Irene Pallot.
Grave Blessing: Today’s Grave Blessing will take place at Syston Cemetery. If you would like Fr John to bless the grave of any of your dear departed, please join him at the entrance to the cemetery at 2.00pm and accompany him to the grave in question.
Service of Reconciliation: This will be held at the Divine Infant of Prague in Syston on Tuesday 10thDecember at 7.00pm. There will be three priests in attendance.
Prayer and Devotion Together:
“For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”(Matthew 18:20)
