Finances: Collection: 13th October £89.70. Candles: £6.05. CAFOD: £21.00. Total raised for CAFOD: £190.56. Many thanks. (Cheques to be made payable to: St Gregory’s RC Church)
Second Collection: There will be a second collection today for World Missions.
New altar server: Today we welcome Michelle as the latest recruit to the ranks of our altar servers.
Letter from the Bishop: Bishop Patrick wrote to Fr John to thank him for the lovely celebration of Confirmation. There is a copy of the letter posted at the back of church and on the parish website.
Christmas Fayre & Raffle: The fayre will be held on Saturday 30th November, which is six weeks away. Please start collecting and bringing in items for sale. Since it is a Christmas Fayre items should be of good quality, new or nearly new, as people will hopefully be buying them as Christmas presents. Stalls will include books and plants, bottles, children’s bran tub, toys, fancy goods, children’s chocolate tombola, Christmas gifts, tombola stall and of course our favourite cake stall. There will also be a Santa’s Grotto.
Grave Blessing: On each of the four Sundays in November, Fr John will bless the graves of parishioners as follows: 3rd November - Barrow; 10th November - Sileby; 17th November - Loughborough; 24th November - Syston. If you would like Fr John to bless the grave of any of your dear departed, please join him at the entrance to the appropriate cemetery at 2.00pm and accompany him to the grave in question.
Encounter, Discipleship and Missionary Discipleship: The Bishop’s Pastoral letter in Lent (still available on the parish website) hinged on these three themes. Two possible ways of putting this into action might be by accompanying a Eucharistic Ministers while they take the Blessed Sacrament to a sick parishioner, some of whom would appreciate seeing other members of our community. (If you would like to accompany Stephen Giacchino on his visit after Mass on a Sunday, please have a word with him.) Another way might be to take part in one of the devotional activities outlined below.
Prayer and Devotion Together:
