Syston 11.00am Mass (Vera Ryan RIP)
Theme of today’s Mass: “The Triumph of God”: The day is coming when all that is evil will be brought to nothing. Already Christ has given us the strength to overcome evil; we receive it in the Eucharist.
Mass intention today: We remember particularly all the friends and relatives of fellow parishioners who have passed away. May they rest in peace.
Beryl Ford: We have been praying for Beryl for some time now. Sadly, she passed away on Wednesday morning. May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.
Sick List: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Bernard Moyers, Patrick Hodgson, Angela Doyle, Ida De Melo, Maurice Nixon, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Irene Pallot.
Grave Blessing: Today’s Grave Blessing will take place at Loughborough Cemetery. If you would like Fr John to bless the grave of any of your dear departed, please join him at the entrance to the cemetery at 2.00pm and accompany him to the grave in question. Next Sunday’s Blessing will be at Syston Cemetery.
Masses for the Dead: During November we remember the Holy Souls at every Mass. If you would like to include someone in the intentions of the Mass, please use one of the “Month of the Holy Souls” envelopes at the back of church. Simply write the name(s) on a slip of paper, place the slip in the envelope, seal the envelope and place it in the basket in front of the altar. Please do not put any money in these envelopes.
If you would like a Mass to be celebrated on a particular day, please use the Mass Intentions envelopes as usual.
Prayer and Devotion Together:
“For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”(Matthew 18:20)
This week in church:
Sunday 17th at 3.00pm “Divine Mercy”
Monday 18th at 10.30am “Holy Rosary”
Wednesday 20th at 10.30am “Sacred Heart”
A full diary of devotions for November is posted at the back of church. If you would like to consider hosting one of these devotions at home (as someone already has), please have a word with David Cafferky.
Christmas Fayre & Raffle: The Fayre is fast approaching and will be held on Saturday 30th November, which is two weeksaway. Items for sale are only slowly coming in. As it is a ChristmasFayre items should be of good quality, new or nearly new, as people will hopefully be buying them for Christmas gifts. Stalls will include books and plants, bottles, children’s bran tub, toys, fancy goods, children’s chocolate tombola, Christmas gifts, tombola stall and of course our favourite cake stall. So that stall-holders can be assured of items to sell it would be particularly helpful if next Sunday (or anytime during this week) items for the Fancy Goods stall and the Bottle and Chocolate tombolas could be brought in. As well as from yourselves, please ask family and friends if they could also donate. Please leave at the back of Church. Many thanks.
Over 65s Christmas Lunch: This will take place on Sunday 8th December at Beedles Lake Golf Club. The Friends of St Gregory’s will pay the deposit; participants will pay the rest. Please sign up on the list at the back of church.
Finances: Collection: 10th November: £86.30. Candles: £1.40, Mass Offerings: £10.00. thanks. (Cheques to be made payable to: St Gregory’s RC Church)
PPC Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 4th December. Please give some thought to any item that you would like to be raised.
Shoebox Appeal: Many thanks to all who contributed. More details to come.
Faith in Families: Christmas Appeal: details on poster at the back of church and on the parish website. See Roberta for further information.
