Syston 11.00am Mass (Vinitha Thomas RIP)
Theme of today’s Mass: Between Moses and Elijah Jesus shows forth his divine glory, thus foreshadowing his resurrection. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end of all things. Today's Mass places before us the transfigured Lord as the model toward whom we must gravitate, and our own transfiguration as the goal we must attain. We attain this goal by a profound realisation of our sinfulness and our need of a Redeemer; by preserving purity of body and soul; by combating our passions and carnal instincts and by observing the commandments and most importantly by participating in the Mass.
Sick List: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Bernard Moyers, Patrick Hodgson, Tod Smith, Angela Doyle, Ida De Melo, Maurice Nixon, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Irene Pallot.
Stations of the Cross: This afternoon at 4.00pm. This is a beautiful service which lasts just over twenty minutes.
Rosmini Centre: Thursdays 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March: (7.30-8.30pm) “A Lenten Series: Paths to Deeper Prayer”. Saturday 14th March (2.00-4.30pm) Rev Bill Myers: “Firmly I believe and truly” - Newman’s vindication.
Lent Reflections: The Justice & Peace Group will be providing us with thought-provoking reflections during the season of Lent. The second reflection is attached to this newsletter.
The Parish Lenten Retreat: This will take place in a fortnight’s time on Saturday 21st March. Eight parishioners have signed up and all are “returners”. They would be happy to tell you what is involved if you are unsure whether to sign up or not.
CAFOD Lenten Fast Day: Please place your envelopes or offerings in the collection which will be taken during the final hymn today. If you have forgotten to bring your envelope, please do so next Sunday.
Lent Lunches: These will take place in Trinity Rooms (Holy Trinity Church in Barrow) at 12.30pm on Fridays from 28th February to 3rd April.

This week in church:
Monday 9th March at 3.00pm: “Divine Mercy”
Tuesday 10th March at 10.00am: “Holy Rosary”
Parishioners are invited to join any of the “Prayer and devotion together” sessions and, if they are unable to attend, to indicate on the sheet at the back of church the personal intentions for which they would like prayers offered in their absence.
Red Missio Boxes: Please bring in your little red Missio boxes and leave them at the back of church so that they can be emptied before the end of March.
St Matthew’s Gospels: The copies of St Matthew’s gospel which were offered free to parishioners over the last two weeks were in fact paid for by the Friends of St Gregory’s. Sincere thanks to the group who provide so many “extras” to the parish.
Parish Charity: We have raised over £170 for Loughborough Town of Sanctuary. Wouldn’t it be great if we could reach £200 by the end of Lent?
