Sileby NO STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Mass Theme: “The Lord who has wiped out our past sinfulness”. The utter completeness of Christ’s forgiveness is almost incredible. When he says to us “Neither do I condemn you”, the past is dead, snuffed out like a wick, forgotten. Laughter and song fill our hearts. It seems like a dream.
Sick list: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Bernard Moyers, Maurice Nixon, Irene Pallot, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Terry Cantle, Ida De Melo, Angela Doyle, Beryl Ford.
Second Collection today: There will be a second collection today for Easter flowers to decorate the church. Apologies that there was no prior warning last week of this collection.
Mothering Sunday:Thank you to the children for their beautiful prayers, to Roberta, Sophia and Grace for their artistic creation of the lavender bags and to the Friends of St Gregory’s for meeting the costs involved.
Palm Sunday:next Sunday is Palm Sunday. Please gather in the Hall before Mass where palms will be distributed. Then, weather permitting, we shall process outside, via the car park and enter the church by the main door.
Holy Week Services:Advance notice of services for the Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday– Mass here in Sileby at 7.30pm followed by “Watching at the altar of repose” until 9.30pm for those who can stay behind. A list will be posted asking parishioners to sign up so we can ensure there will be a presence. Good Friday– service here in Sileby at 3.00pm. Holy Saturday– Vigil Mass in Systonat 8.00pm. Easter Sunday– Mass here at 9.00am as usual.
Lent Reflections: In our final reflection for Lent we come back to look more closely at the theme of “Longer Tables, Lower Fences” which provokes us to consider breaking down barriers to make our community more welcoming. We offer our sincere thanks to the Justice & Peace group for providing us with these challenging and thought-provoking reflections during Lent.
