Mass today:Father Anthony will be saying Mass here today at 9.00am and also at Syston at 11.00am. There will be a shared lunch at 12.30 in Syston to which we are invited. If anyone would like to attend, even at this late hour, please let Peter Fryer know and he will pass on the details to the organiser at our sister parish.
Change of Mass times:please note that in future the Mass celebrated in Barrow each Wednesday will take place at 7.00pm instead of 7.30pm.
Funeral Mass:the Funeral Mass for Assunta Furno will take place on Friday 25thJanuary at 10.00am here at St. Gregory’s.
White Flower Appeal: the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) will be holding its annual appeal next weekend. SPUC is currently campaigning to stop the decriminalisation of abortion, which means taking abortion outside the law. This is the most dangerous threat to unborn children and their mothers in decades. Please be as generous as you can to help us defeat this latest attack on unborn babies and their mothers and to stop abortion getting even worse in this country by decriminalisation.
Leicester West Saturday Seven Steps Scripture Sharing: This group, led by Father Anthony, has been running since January 2018 and has 5 members. Eventually there will be 12. It meets 26 times a year for 90 minutes on Saturday mornings from 9.30-11.00 in the Upper Room adjacent to St Peter’s Church Hall in West Holme Street, Leicester. If you would like further information, please ask Sean Jinks who is a member of the group.
After Mass: please come and join us in the Social Centre for a cup of tea/coffee/soft drink and a chat. If you are a newcomer or a visitor you are particularly welcome.
Used postage stamps: (for the “Helping Dogs Charity”) please put these in the box at the back of church.
Mary’s Meals: So far £130 has been donated to our Advent Charity. There is a donation box into which contributions can be put in front of the statue of Our Lady/in front of the crib. Your donation can be “gift-aided”, thus generating additional income to the charity. Give before 1 March 2019, and the UK government will match donations, so for every £1 donated, Mary’s Meals will receive £2. It is worth noting that, for every £1 donated, the charity spends 93p on its charitable work, a figure unmatched by most charities. If you have a minute, please look at their website www.marysmeals.org.uk. You will not fail to be impressed. If you have any queries, please see Cath Jackson.
Happy Birthday: belated Happy Birthday to Fr John! There are some photos on the parish website of cake being devoured and candles being blown out as well as a video of some tuneful (?) singing.
