Terry Cantle: Terry’s funeral will take place on Friday 26thApril at 11.00am here at St Gregory’s and his burial will take place immediately afterwards in Barrow.
Sick list: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Bernard Moyers, Maurice Nixon, Irene Pallot, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Ida De Melo, Angela Doyle, Beryl Ford.
Congratulations: It has been a busy and a momentous weekend for Michelle Cafferky who last night at the Easter Vigil service in Syston, having made her First Confession, then made her First Holy Communion and received the sacrament of Confirmation. She is now in every sense a full and cherished member of our community. We remember her in our prayers as well as her husband, David, and their son, Kellan.
Wednesday in Barrow:Please note that there will be no Mass in Barrow on Wednesday. Instead there will be a service of Word and Sacrament.
The Feast of the Divine Mercy: Next Sunday, 28th April, there will be an afternoon of devotionsled by Fr John at the church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Gleneagles Avenue, Rushey Mead, Leicester LE4 7ZB. The afternoon starts at 2.30pm and will finish around 6.00pm after Mass. Please see the poster at the back of church for more details.
Register of Deaths:During the Bidding Prayers on the first Sunday of every month, we are reminded of those members of our parish who died during that particular month. Details of these parishioners are recorded in a Register of Deaths. These details are now duplicated in digital format and a printed version can be consulted in the file which can be found at the back of church. If you are aware of any errors or omissions, please let Father John or Peter Fryer know and the necessary steps will be taken to rectify the situation.
SPUC 2019 Campaign Tour: “Defeating Abortion Decriminalisation” is the priority pro-life campaign in 2019. Everyone is invited to a meeting to be held on Wednesday 1stMay from 7.30-9.00pm at Rothley Baptist Church, 2 Woodgate, Rothley. LRE7 7LJ.
Planned Giving Envelopes: These are available at the back of church. For parishioners whose offerings are gift-aided, please take the box bearing your name. If your offering is not gift-aided, please take one of the unnamed boxes.
Direct Debit Offerings: for some parishioners it is more convenient to make their offering via a monthly direct debit scheme. This certainly helps to avoid the situation where one has to scramble around on a Saturday evening/Sunday morning to find the right amount for one’s envelope. It also has the distinct advantage from the parish’s point of view of providing a guaranteed monthly income, which greatly assists financial planning. If you would like to consider this option, please speak to Paul Carroll, Stephen Giacchino, Sean Jinks or Peter Fryer.
Nottingham Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes: This will take place from 14th– 19thJuly. There are details in the plastic wallet in the rack at the back of church and/or: www.tangney-tours.com/nottingham.
Hearing Loop: For those with hearing aids, please switch your aid to the T setting to hear direct from the microphones.
Finances: Collection 14thApril: £228.55. Repository: £30.10 Mass Offerings: £50.00. Many thanks. (Cheques to “St Gregory’s RC Parish”)
Repository:Please have a look at the display in the glass cabinet in the School Room to see what is available. If you have any particular request, please see Barbara Heath for advice.
Prayers for fellow parishioners: When you are away from St Gregory’s and you call in to a church for Mass or for private prayer, please remember to pray for our parish community. It would be lovely if you could take a photo of the church you visit and pass it on to Peter for inclusion on the parish website. We shall be able to build a picture gallery of churches throughout the world where we have prayed for each other. We have already made a start which can be viewed on the website in the “Gallery”.
After Mass: Please come and join us in the Social Centre for a cup of tea/coffee/soft drink and a chat. If you are a newcomer or a visitor you are particularly welcome.
