Father Vincent’s Newsletter: Copies of Father Vincent’s Newsletter 2018 were available last Sunday after Mass. If you would like a copy, please ask Peter Fryer for one or, if you prefer, there is a copy on the parish website. Father Vincent is a Ugandan priest who was a regular visitor to our parish for many years. Some parishioners continue to support his work through their donations. If you feel moved to do so, there are details on the website explaining what to do.
Adoremus: As you may be aware the Bishops of England and Wales are holding a National Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool and there are still places available for the Saturday, 8th September 2018. The keynote speaker is Bishop Robert Barron, visit his website: https://www.wordonfire.org/. Our Diocese is hoping to send a coach from Leicester to Liverpool Echo Arena for this special event. The cost of the congress ticket is £40 and the coach fare will be discounted to £10 per seat. Booking forms are available from the back of Church or Fr Peter.
Annual Rosary Rally: Takes place on Sunday 26th August at Mount St. Bernard Abbey to pray for World Peace and the Young People of our Diocese, commencing with concelebrated Mass at 2.00p.m. Principal Celebrant, Fr. Denis Geoghegan O.C.S.O. There will be a break for a picnic, followed by Solemn Crowning of the Statue of Our Lady and Act of Consecration, Rosary Procession, Exposition, Blessing of the Sick, and Benediction. It is advisable to take a chair.
Feast of St Gregory: The feast of the patron saint of our parish is on Monday September 3rd. On Sunday 2ndSeptember, Father Anthony will be coming to celebrate Mass with us at 9.00am. It is hoped that this special occasion can be marked by a shared lunch at 1.00pm.If you are able to attend this shared lunch, please put your name on the list at the back of church.

St Teresa Benedicta: St Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein) was born to a Jewish family in Breslau, Germany, in 1891. She was baptised into the Catholic Church in 1922 and entered the Cologne Carmel in 1933. Smuggled out of Germany at the behest of her superior to the Echt Carmel in Limburg, Netherlands, she was arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 and deported to Auschwitz where she was gassed, probably on 9th August.
