Sick list: Please pray for the following members of our parish: Assunta Furno, Bernard Moyers, Maurice Nixon, Irene Pallot, Mary Powell, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Terry Cantle, Ida De Melo and Angela Doyle.
Message from Fr Peter Vellacott:I just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks for the beautiful card, the thoughts and prayers, and the expression of thanks from parishioners of St. Gregory’s. I was very touched. Please accept my thanks, my best wishes and prayers for the parish community for the future. It was a privilege to be able to help out, albeit in a small way, over this time.
Leicestershire Active Catholic Youth Group: is organising an afternoon entitled “Praise and Worship” for all young teenagers and young adults next Sunday, 7thOctober from 1.30 – 5.00pm at St. Joseph’s Church Hall, Goodwood Road, Leicester. Full details on the poster at the back of church and in the School Room.
Christmas Fayre & Raffle:please could as many people as possible deliver pre-addressed envelopes containing raffle tickets to those living near them? These are available after Mass today in the Social Centre. Also, please consider making a contribution, if you are able, to the Christmas Hamper, which is a major raffle prize. There is a list at the back of church of items required. The Christmas Fayre itself will be held on Saturday 17 November so could we ask parishioners to start collecting and bringing in items for sale please. As it is a Christmas Fayre items should be of good quality, new or nearly new, as people will be, hopefully, buying them as Christmas presents. Stalls will include: books and plants, bottles, children’s bran tub, toys, fancy goods, children’s chocolate tombola, Christmas gifts, tombola stall and of course our favourite cake stall. There will also be a Santa’s Grotto. It might be an idea as you start your shopping to include an extra item or two on your list for the fayre. Please also ask your relatives, friends and neighbours if they have any items they could donate. Please start bringing items in as soon as possible. Many thanks.
Harvest Sunday:this will be celebrated on Sunday 14thOctober. Please bring your offerings to Mass on that day. These will be placed in front of the altar before Mass and then sold after Mass by the Youth Group in the Social Centre. All money raised will go to CAFOD.
Saturday Scripture Sharing:we are a small, friendly group who meet with Fr Anthony Pateman at St Peter’s in Leicester each Saturday morning to share a prayerful reflection on the coming Sunday’s Gospel. Our new term starts on 29thSeptember at 9.30am. If you’d like to know more about what we do, please ask Sean Jinks after Mass.
After Mass: please do come and join us in the Social Centre for a cup of tea/coffee/soft drink and a chat.
Parish Pastoral Council: the next meeting of the PPC is scheduled for October 11th. Parishioners are encouraged to voice any concerns or suggestions they have to any member of the council: Terry Breed, Veronica Brown, Bron Coleman, Paul Carroll, Marlene Corrall, Peter Fryer, Stephen Giacchino (Jnr), Cath Jackson, Amy Jarkulisz, Rebecca Jinks, Pam Looi and Kathryn Timmons.
Saints of the week: to find out more about the saints whose feasts occur during the week, please use the links on the version of this newsletter which is on the parish website (address at the bottom of this sheet).
