Welcome: we welcome Fr John St. John as Parochial Administrator and pray that his time with us will be fruitful and rewarding. In today’s Mass we pray for the intentions of those priests of the Deanery who have ministered to us over the past six months: Fr Denis Labartette, Fr Simon Robson, Fr David Jones, Fr Ted Mullen, Fr Anthony Pateman and, of course, Fr Peter Vellacott, the Dean of Loughborough, who arranged for a priest to say Mass for us each Sunday and in addition said Mass here in Sileby every Friday which meant that he was unable to do so in his own parish, Sacred Heart in Loughborough.
Sick list: Please remember in your prayers the following members of our parish: Assunta Furno, Bernard Moyers, Maurice Nixon, Irene Pallot, Mary Powell, Eva Shirreffs, Stefania Stasior, Terry Cantle, Ida De Melo and Angela Doyle.
Finances: Collection last Sunday £. Many thanks. (Cheques made payable to St. Gregory’s RC Church)
Gift Aid explained: If you are a taxpayer, when you give money to the Church, tax has already been paid on that money. Because the Church is exempt from tax, we can claim this money back from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). For example, for every £10 you give the Church, the Church can claim back £2.50 from the Government at absolutely no extra charge to you. This applies to smaller or larger donations. It is totally painless. If you would like to join the Gift Aid scheme, please speak to Paul Carroll or Stephen Giacchino.
SPUC Letter Appeal: Have you written your letter to Nicky Morgan MP? It is not too late. For advice and suggestions, please take one of the SPUC documents at the back of church or speak to Wilf Doyle or Shirley Ratcliffe.
MacMillan Coffee Morning: Next Saturday, 29thSeptember a coffee morning will be held in the Social Centre from 10.0am until 12.30pm. There will be a Raffle, “Stick the cherry on top of the cake” and “Guess the weight of the cake”. With the help of the ladies and gentlemen of St Gregory’s and Sileby, there will be lots of lovely cakes to eat with your coffee, and to take home too. We look forward to seeing you all.
Saints of the week: to find out more about the saints whose feasts occur during the week, please use the links on the version of this newsletter which is on the parish website (address at the bottom of this sheet).
After Mass: unless you have to rush off after Mass, please come and join us in the Social Centre for a cup of tea/coffee/soft drink and a chat.
Repository: many thanks to Barbara Heath for her stalwart work in organising the repository. Please have a look at the display in the glass cabinet in the School Room to see what is available.
Parish Pastoral Council: The next meeting of the PPC is scheduled for October 11th. Parishioners are encouraged to voice any concerns or suggestions they have to any member of the council: Terry Breed, Veronica Brown, Bron Coleman, Paul Carroll, Marlene Corrall, Peter Fryer, Stephen Giacchino (jnr), Cath Jackson, Amy Jarkulisz, Rebecca Jinks, Pam Looi and Kathryn Timmons.
