The World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM)
Following the teaching of Dom John Main OSB
“The important aim in Christian meditation is to allow God’s mysterious and silent presence within us to become more and more not only a reality but the reality which gives meaning, shape and purpose to everything we do, everything we are.”
Meditation is a universal spiritual practice, which guides us into the prayer of Christ. It brings us into silence, stillness and simplicity by a means that is itself silent, still and simple.
For over ten years a small group has been meeting in the Library of Rearsby Convent, The Sisters of St Joseph of Peace, to share in the contemplative prayer of stillness and silence. We gather together every two weeks on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. The focus of the evening is 20 minutes silent meditation and we begin with opening prayer/readings, music, followed by a recorded talk from the WCCM. We conclude with coffee/tea and the opportunity for relaxed discussion or questions.
“Silence is the gateway to the soul and the soul is the gateway to God”
